The memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the University of Zakho and Şırnak University has been officially signed

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, a delegation from Şırnak University, led by Prof. Dr. Abdurrahim Alkış, visited the University of Zakho. They were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Diyar Abdulkareem Saeed, the President of the University of Zakho, along with university representatives.

The purpose of this visit was to sign a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the two universities. This agreement aims to strengthen international relations between the University of Zakho and Şırnak University, advancing collaboration in scientific, cultural, educational, and international trade sectors.

This memorandum of understanding consists of nine key areas, and some of the most important ones are as follows: 

- Exchange of faculty and academic staff between the two universities to promote shared expertise.

- Joint teaching initiatives, advancing collaboration in educational programs.

- Student participation in scientific, cultural, and sports activities, encouraging a wider range of academic engagement.

- Mutual access to research laboratories for conducting scientific studies and collaborative conferences, strengthening research partnerships.

During this visit, the Şırnak University delegation toured the colleges and research centers at the University of Zakho, in order to learn more about the Bologna Process at the university. They also visited scientific research centers and the Zakho Center for Kurdish Studies, emphasizing the importance of academic collaboration and cultural research between the two institutions.

After the academic discussions, the delegation toured the Zakho's historical castle and old market, as well as the Corniche near Dalal Bridge, exploring the city's cultural and architectural heritage. Furthermore, the “Roj Art Group” from the Zakho Independent Administration welcomed the delegation, showcasing Kurdish artistic and musical performances.

In the end, both universities expressed their satisfaction with the signing of this memorandum of understanding, marking an important step in academic collaboration and international engagement.
